Sr Financial Analyst

Job Details The Senior Financial Analyst reports to the Reimbursement team within the Corporate Finance department, and is responsible for analyzing and optimizing healthcare reimbursement strategies and ensuring compliance with payer regulations and government reimbursement methodologies. This position plays a key role in preparing cost reports and other reimbursement analyses and supports decision-making through complex data analysis. The ideal candidate possesses in-depth knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement, managed care contracts, and healthcare finance. Key Responsibilities: + Prepare and review Medicare, Medicaid, and other third-party cost reports, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance. + Analyze reimbursement trends and financial impacts of regulatory changes, payer contract terms, and proposed healthcare legislation. + Develop financial models to project reimbursement impacts related to changes in volume, case mix, or payer mix. + Partner with managed care, revenue accounting/reporting, and revenue cycle teams to evaluate payer performance and negotiate contract terms. + Monitor and interpret CMS updates, payment methodologies (DRG, APC, OPPS, etc.), and value-based reimbursement models. + Perform variance analysis of expected vs. actual reimbursement and identify root causes. + Support audits by providing necessary documentation and responses to inquiries from external auditors and government agencies. + Assist with month-end close activities and reserves for third-party settlements. + Prepare and review monthly statistics for financial statement reporting. + Prepare, review and input Public Goods, Statewide, and Cash Assessment into the NYS Online Portal. + Reviewing and updating Medicare and Medicaid Rate sheets for input into 3M software. + Prepare and review quarterly CQR and annual CFR & CBR reports and requests. + Prepare and review OASAS/OMH monthly claims and support County audits. + Medicaid DSH Audit preparation. + Prepare Budget Capital Survey. + Provide subject matter expertise and guidance to junior analysts and other internal stakeholders. + All other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Education: + Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or related field required. + CPA, MBA, or Master’s in Health Administration (MHA) preferred. Experience: + Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in healthcare reimbursement, cost reporting, or financial analysis. + Strong knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid regulations, reimbursement methodologies, and healthcare payment systems. + Experience with hospital and/or physician group reimbursement preferred. Skills: + Proficient in Microsoft Excel (advanced), Access, and financial modeling tools. + Experience with Lawson, Strata and Epic is a plus. + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills. + Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines. Working Conditions: + Hybrid schedule with office time required for training and other mandatory meetings and team sessions. + Some extended hours may be required during reporting deadlines or audit periods. Salary Range USD $90,000.00 - USD $100,000.00 /Yr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
