About the Role:

We are seeking a Senior Engineering Specialist in High Voltage (HV) & Interconnection to lead technical delivery for utility?scale renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

This role is pivotal in ensuring the safe, reliable, and compliant interconnection of power generation facilities to North American utility grids. You will oversee high?voltage systems, transmission line design, and interconnection processes while collaborating across internal and external partners to support the development of innovative, large?scale renewable energy infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities: Lead engineering execution during design, construction, and commissioning, and support the development of Generator Interconnection Agreements (GIA) with utilities, ISOs, and RTOs. Review and optimize HV/MV substations, transmission lines, collection systems, and equipment specifications (e.g., transformers, breakers, switchgear, BESS). Conduct or review power system studies—power flow, short?circuit, arc?flash, protection coordination, grounding—ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and internal specifications. Serve as the technical interface among internal teams (Business Development, Technical Services, Operations, SCM, Legal, Safety, Land, Environment, and other supporting groups) and external consultants, EPCs, and vendors. Support procurement of HV equipment by preparing technical bid packages, reviewing vendor submissions, and providing expert input on equipment selection and design. Provide oversight and quality control during construction and commissioning, participate in acceptance tests, and lead integration activities across teams. Contribute to project reporting, progress tracking, and risk management, escalating issues proactively as needed. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; P.Eng (Canada) or PE (U.S.) required. Electrical Engineering strongly preferred. Minimum 8 years of experience; 10–15+ years preferred, with progressive technical and functional leadership responsibility. Direct experience in utility?scale electrical design, HV/MV integration, and interconnection across multiple North American ISOs. Broad field and office experience in engineering execution. Strong value?based, collaborative mindset balancing technical quality with cost, schedule, and lifecycle considerations. Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead discussions with internal and external partners. Valid driver’s license required; motor vehicle check conducted prior to hire.
