Sr Engineer (S) - Data Loss Prevention
We are seeking a Sr Engineer focusing on Data Monitoring and DLP to join our Cyber Defense Engineering Team. This position will support and drive our organization’s security initiatives, specifically focusing on enhancing the development of our Data Monitoring solutions and ensuring Data Loss Prevention throughout our organization. The ideal candidate has strong experience working with DLP policies, monitoring and labeling of data, and ensuring effectiveness of data policy enforcement. This is a highly collaborative role, requiring strong independent skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with security and infrastructure teams. As a Sr Engineer you will be considered a technical expert in one or more phases of application and/or systems engineering. This includes providing design recommendations based on long-term IT organization strategy and expertise regarding the integration of applications across the business. You will determine specifications, plan, design, and develop business critical technology solutions, utilizing appropriate engineering processes - either individually or in concert with product team. Key Responsibilities: + Implementing powerful data monitoring techniques to drive effective DLP policy enforcement + Data sensitivity labeling + Architecting and deploying data monitoring solutions + Ensuring response policies are in place to protect organizational data + Risk management and being able to partner closely with our risk team to drive organizational change + Advising other teams on security best practices within our workspace + Conduct code reviews and contribute to security product development + Provide expert-level troubleshooting and debugging for data monitoring-related issues, as well as assisting with troubleshooting across other security solutions + Support on call after hours issues as needed per on call rotation + Critical situation calls at all hours, based on relevance to our technology stack + Contribute to developing engineering practices, templates and frameworks in collaboration with the team + Apply technical knowledge to drive outcomes for customers + Ability to work and problem solve independently on initiatives that align to the broader engineering strategy + Participate in team’s collaboration sessions to provide technical expertise to solve a problem/remove technical roadblocks for the team + Participate in product planning and implementation. Helps team to understand and decompose work + Provide guidance to junior engineers to help them learn foundational engineering skills + Provide domain expertise on software products in their area to junior engineers to help them learn/grow their skills and contribute as part of the team Must-Have Skills & Qualifications + 5+ years of IT experience + 3+ years of data monitoring/DLP engineering experience + Strong understanding of data security fundamentals + Strong understanding of information security best practices + Expertise in troubleshooting complex issues + Exceptional communication skills across technical and business areas + Must be self-sufficient and have great attention to detail + Thought leader within the data monitor/DLP engineering space + Ability to keep up to date with security trends in the industry + Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience) Nice-to-Have Skills + Microsoft Purview experience + Experience working within the Product Operating Model + Sound knowledge of industry standard Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices + Development experience in Python (preferred) or other programming languages for automation + Sound knowledge of systems design concepts that provide security and stability + Perform code reviews with associate team members + Background in financial services or other highly regulated industries Culture & Work Environment + Collaborative yet requires strong independent problem-solving skills + Opportunity to work on cutting-edge security automation and integration projects + Fully remote role with optional quarterly planning travel (if desired) + Opportunity for growth + Employer backed training and development Why this role? + Be a key player in strengthening enterprise security infrastructure + Work in a highly visible role with leadership and security teams + Competitive pay and benefits plus a yearly bonus program Pay Transparency Thrivent’s long-term growth depends on attracting, rewarding, and retaining people who are committed to helping others thrive with purpose. The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $118,105.00 - $159,788.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
