Learn more at https://www.jnj.com/medtech **JOB SUMMARY** Under the direction of the Director EHS Ethicon MedTech, the Senior Environmental, Safety & Health Manager ensures the continuous education, implementation, integration and improvement of the environmental, safety and health platforms, systems and processes acting as plant representative on all EH&S matters, to ensure strict site compliance to the Company’s Local and Federal Regulatory requirements as well as WWEHSS Standards. **DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES** Under general direction and in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position: + Assures that all environmental, health and safety legislation both local and federal are observed. + Assures that all J&JWW EHS&S standards and Comprehensive Process requirements are observed. + Under moderate level of supervision, take projects requiring basic knowledge of safety, industrial hygiene, ergonomics and environmental from identification of potential risk to the implementation of appropriate control measures. + Assures that all contracted services for Occupational Health & Wellness are efficiently delivered, continuously improved and effective communication is maintained with Ethicon’s partners. + Develops site’s objectives for Environmental, Safety and Health Programs and assures its attainment. + Leads Environmental, Safety and Health audits/inspections and owns the recommendations and process improvements. Leads Site in achieving positive external/internal inspection results. + Coordinates and performs internal audits periodically to assess systems/process effectiveness. + Coordinates meetings and assures teams effectiveness. Lead ERT as Primary Incident Commander for site emergencies and the EHS Integrated Owners of Safety System (IOSS) Team + Supports site’s Business Continuity Program. + Acts as site’s voice in any event of Environmental, Health & Safety nature. + Ensures safe working conditions and practices to all associates. + Develops, implements, and supports Site and Franchise environmental, safety, and health regulatory strategy. + Provides support and guidance to key individuals and teams to assure compliance with minimum impact to the Plant. + Owns the Environmental-Safety and Health Scorecard, ensures Performance Measure system updates, and briefs Staff Leadership Team as required. + Act as site’s representative for Ethicon’s WWEHS Franchise and J&J WWEHS Corporate matters. + Comply with all environmental, safety and occupational health policies (i.e., ISO14001 & OSHAS 18001). + Responsible for the overall hazardous waste management functions at the facility, hazardous waste paperwork and recordkeeping. + Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level. + Responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable. + Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures. + Performs other duties assigned as needed. **EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION** + B.S. in Engineering (BSCHE, BSIE, or BS Environmental Engineering preferred) + Master’s degree in environmental science highly preferred + Professional Engineer (PE) preferred. + At least five (5) years’ experience leading Environmental, Health and Safety Affairs and related Local and Federal Agencies as applicable to Medical Device or Pharmaceutical Industry. + Knowledge of local, state and federal Environmental Health & Safety regulations is required with experience leading Environmental, Health and Safety Affairs and related Local and Federal Agencies as applicable to Medical Device or Pharmaceutical Industry. + Must have strong technical background with experience handling internal/external audits and regulatory agencies. + Two (2) years of experience leading teams or direct people management is highly preferred. + Budget management experience is required. + Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 is desired. + Project Management experience is required. + Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other related professional certification is preferred. **REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES and AFFILIATIONS** _*_ + Fluent, speaks and writes English and Spanish. + Strong presentation skills in English and Spanish. + Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) initial training within six months after + employment and annual refresher. + OSHA 30 hours General Industry & OSHA 10 hours Construction Safety + ISO 14001 Lead auditor **LOCATION & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS** + Position may be based in San Lorenzo Facility, subject to hiring work center requirement. + 20% Travel requirement between Ethicon Locations, Domestic and/or international travel. + Must have a valid Driver’s license and reliable transportation. This position is eligible for Mileage Reimbursement for Personal Car Usage as per JNJ Global Travel, Meetings and Expense Policy. The mileage reimbursement is intended to cover costs related to operation of the vehicle including service, maintenance (gasoline, oil), routine repairs, insurance, and depreciation.
