Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Senior Director of Merchant Services Engineering to lead our efforts in creating delightful servicing, payment processing and other value-added experiences for the Merchants on the PayPal platform. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep technical background, passion and curiosity for building software products and platforms, who will leverage the latest AI tooling and approaches to improve team productivity.Job Description:

Directs and controls the best practices and procedures within multiple domains within engineering through subordinate leadersDevelops methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people across multiple domains and at an enterprise levelOwns relationship with executives and SLT to drive alignment and the creation of business AND technical objectives that will be executed within their organizationResponsible for the delivery of high complexity projects/programs with Enterprise impactDevelops and executes software development strategy to achieve key business and technical objectives which contributes to the development of overall engineering strategyConsistently works with abstract ideas or situations across software development and engineering, assessing variables, evaluating fundamental issues, and providing direction for engineeringDefines organizational roadmap and ensures alignment with PayPal-wide objectives. Sets high level organizational strategy and budget across multiple domainsCollaborates with direct team, managers in org, stakeholders, managers in other orgs, external partners, business stakeholders, technology & business leadershipMinimum Qualifications:
Minimum of 18 years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.Minimum of 5 years management experiencePreferred Qualification:
Experience:
15+ years of experience in technology roles with at least 5 years in a leadership position.
Proven track record in building and managing developer platforms or ecosystems.
Deep understanding of APIs, SDKs, and developer tools.
Experience in the payments or fintech industry is highly desirable.
Skills:
Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with external partners and developers.
Proficient in leading cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment .
Knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements in the financial industry.
Understanding of AI landscape and passion for leveraging AI to improve team productivity.
