Join McGraw-Hill Education (MHE) as a Senior Data Engineer within the Data and Analytics team and help transform business intelligence capabilities across financial, product, customer, user, and third-party domains. You’ll play a hands-on role architecting and delivering scalable reporting and analytics solutions to support innovation in education.
This is a remote position open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States. Candidates must be available to work during Eastern Time (ET) core hours.
What You'll Do:
Develop and deliver AWS-based data solutions with hands-on cloud engineering expertiseBuild and manage big data pipelines using Databricks or similar Spark-based platformsDesign and implement parallel ETL processes to optimize resources and processing speedArchitect data models and modern data solutions including cloud technologiesCollaborate cross-functionally to translate business needs into technical requirementsDrive performance monitoring and reliability of the Data PlatformLead the creation of technical specification design and end-to-end documentationEnsure runbook SLA compliance and oversee daily cloud platform operationsUtilize tools like Git, Jira, and agile methodologies for project management
What You Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience5+ years of experience in data engineering and cloud technologiesProficiency in AWS services such as Lambda, EMR, Glue, and Athena with IcebergAdvanced skills in SQL, Python scripting, and TerraformDeep knowledge of data warehousing, data lake architecture, and version control3+ years of hands-on experience using AWS for data technology solutionsPreferred Experience & Skills:
Experience in Publication or Education domainsFamiliarity with data visualization tools like Tableau or AlteryxBackground working with financial data (e.g., sales, revenue, COGS, manufacturing)Exposure to IBM Planning Analytics (TM1)Hands-on experience with DatabricksFamiliarity with Terraform or similar Infrastructure-as-Code toolsExperience working with data lakes, data warehouses, or cloud data platformsExposure to DevOps, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines

The pay range for this position is between $124,000- $155,000 USD annually, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. An annual bonus plan may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical and/or other benefits, depending on the position offered.
