The Communications team is the strategic engine of our transformation. We shape PMI’s reputation, lead public and regulatory affairs, and build trusted relationships with government, policymakers, and society

 

As the Senior Manager of Communications, you will craft clear, credible narratives that influence policy, foster transparency, and ensure PMI’s voice is heard on the issues that matter most. In this regional role, you’ll collaborate with markets across East Asia, ANZ, and Global Travel Retail - driving real change in public debate, regulatory engagement, and the future of our industry.

 

Your “day to day”:

Shape communications that support regulatory objectives and align with broader corporate reputation goals. Translate complex regulatory language into clear, accessible messaging for diverse audiences.Work closely with Legal, Government Affairs, Scientific Affairs, and P&C teams to ensure unified messaging. Provide regulatory communication training and guidance to internal spokespeople.Collaborate with P&C teams to organize townhalls and manage internal communications channels.Assist in advocacy campaigns by crafting persuasive narratives that support regulatory reform or acceptance. Leverage data, research, and expert voices to strengthen the credibility of advocacy efforts.Build alliances with a broad range of stakeholders and map their influence to create advocacy communications and mobilize community support for policy influence.Track regulatory developments and assess their impact on the organization. Develop timely responses and proactive communication strategies to address regulatory changes or challenges.Manage media outreach related to regulatory issues, including press releases, interviews, and op-eds. Respond to misinformation or misrepresentation in the media with fact-based, strategic communications.Create materials such as briefing documents, Q&A sheets, position papers, and stakeholder presentations. Tailor content for different audiences including regulators, media, internal teams, and the general public.Support crisis communications related to regulatory matters, ensuring rapid and coordinated responses. Prepare contingency messaging and stakeholder engagement plans for high-risk scenarios.

 

Who we’re looking for:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications, Public Affairs, Public Policy, Political Science, or a related fieldStrong track record in external, corporate, or PR communications, with proven ability to develop and manage public relations and corporate communications objectivesSignificant experience in government, political campaigns, and corporate communicationsExperience in highly regulated sectors such as pharma, F&B, chemical, or energy; political and industry-specific knowledge is an advantageStrategic thinker and exceptional communicator with strong stakeholder management skillsDemonstrated ability to build trust with regulators, government officials, and advocacy groupsProven experience in public affairs, media relations, and regulatory communicationsSkilled at translating complex regulatory language into clear, persuasive conten
