Description We are looking for an experienced Sr Commercial Underwriter to join our team in Overland Park, Kansas. In this role, you will evaluate credit risks and financial profiles of commercial clients while ensuring alignment with organizational standards. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled individual to contribute to high-stakes decision-making and drive efficiency within the underwriting process. Responsibilities: • Analyze complex financial data, market trends, and payment histories to assess the creditworthiness of commercial clients across various industries. • Utilize internal tools and external resources to evaluate risk levels and ensure accurate credit assessments. • Develop and recommend credit structures and decisions that align with established risk parameters. • Exercise authority in credit approvals and occasionally engage directly with applicants to clarify financial details. • Work independently with minimal supervision, taking full accountability for underwriting decisions. • Communicate critical credit-related insights and concerns to senior management in a clear and effective manner. • Contribute to process improvement initiatives by introducing innovative practices to enhance efficiency. • Support the organization’s commitment to maintaining high-quality underwriting standards. Requirements • Proven experience in credit underwriting, particularly within the commercial sector. • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial documentation and market data. • Familiarity with underwriting tools and methodologies for evaluating risk. • Excellent decision-making capabilities and the ability to work autonomously. • Effective communication skills, especially in presenting credit concerns to leadership. • Knowledge of industry trends and regulatory requirements related to commercial lending. • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, or a related field preferred. • Demonstrated ability to handle high-pressure situations while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
