Sr Buyer
Job Title: Senior BuyerJob Description This role leads end-to-end procurement activities, from developing sourcing strategies and qualifying suppliers to managing purchase orders and monitoring supplier performance. The Senior Buyer supports new product introductions, optimizes inventory levels, and builds strong supplier partnerships to ensure reliable, cost-effective, and compliant supply of materials. Responsibilities + Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with company objectives and support overall business goals. + Identify, qualify, and onboard new suppliers to support product launches, new product introductions, and capacity expansion initiatives. + Manage sourcing decisions by evaluating supplier capabilities, costs, lead times, quality performance, and compliance with ISO requirements. + Negotiate pricing, terms, and long-term supply agreements to secure competitive value and sustainable supplier partnerships. + Execute purchase orders in the ERP system (such as Sage or QT9) and monitor order status from placement through on-time delivery. + Collaborate with Engineering on component selection and incorporate supplier design-for-manufacturability (DFM) input during the new product introduction (NPI) phase. + Work closely with Inventory Control to manage inventory levels, prevent stock-outs, and reduce or eliminate obsolete parts. + Partner with Quality Assurance to address non-conforming materials, manage supplier corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs), and maintain audit readiness. + Resolve invoice discrepancies and pricing mismatches in collaboration with Accounts Payable and vendors to ensure accurate and timely payments. + Prepare, analyze, and present procurement metrics, including cost savings, on-time delivery performance, and supplier scorecards. + Adapt to evolving business needs by taking on additional responsibilities and duties as assigned by leadership. Essential Skills + 6–8 years of experience in purchasing or supply chain management, preferably within electronics, medical devices, or aerospace sectors. + Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. + Proven experience working with ERP or MRP systems, with strong preference for experience in Sage or QT9. + Strong purchasing, procurement, and inventory management skills, including demand planning and materials coordination. + Demonstrated negotiation skills for pricing, terms, and supply agreements with suppliers. + Working knowledge of ISO requirements and their application within a supply chain or manufacturing environment. + Ability to analyze procurement data and metrics, including cost savings, on-time delivery, and supplier performance. + Familiarity with contract law and supplier agreements, including commercial terms and risk considerations. + Proficiency in resolving invoice discrepancies and pricing issues in partnership with internal finance teams and vendors. + Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with Engineering, Inventory Control, Quality Assurance, and Accounts Payable. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience supporting new product introductions (NPI) and incorporating supplier design-for-manufacturability (DFM) input. + Background in industries with regulated or standards-driven environments, such as electronics, medical devices, or aerospace. + APICS or CPM certification, or progress toward such certifications, is a plus. + Experience developing and presenting supplier scorecards and other performance dashboards to stakeholders. + Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment with evolving responsibilities. + Strong analytical mindset with the ability to identify cost reduction opportunities and process improvements. Work Environment This is an onsite role based in Torrance with a standard schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The position operates within a professional office and manufacturing-support environment that relies on ERP systems such as Sage or QT9 for day-to-day purchasing and materials management. The Senior Buyer collaborates closely with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Inventory Control, Quality Assurance, and Finance, and regularly interacts with external suppliers and partners. The work setting emphasizes structured processes, adherence to ISO requirements, and data-driven decision-making, while maintaining a dynamic atmosphere where responsibilities may evolve to meet changing business needs. Professional business-appropriate attire is expected in alignment with a typical office and manufacturing-support environment. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Torrance, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
