Job Description Program Overview: • Primary objective is supporting delivery of the backend application for a major government aid form which gets millions of applicants per year. - This contract involves building a new application in the cloud and replacing the legacy mainframe processing system. The new system aims to improve the customer experience, deliver cost savings, and provide operational flexibility to quickly scale in response to future regulations or requirements. - Millions of people submit through this system each year looking for financial aid. - The team is currently at the point of optimization and feature refinement as they currently have a system in operation. Position • Work in a fast paced, collaborative environment where ideas are discussed and challenged openly • Deliver new features and improve reliability of our core services including the major read/write paths for customer intake, application screening, and information dissemination • Identify major system bottlenecks, or flaws in business logic, and proactively address them • Take ownership over core product problems, be able to come up with your own solutions that you love and prove through data that it is impactful at scale • Work across the stack to solve problems, there is no reliance on another engineer or team to get something done for you Location: Remote / EST time zone Pay Range: $150,000 - $180,000 based on experience We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day. Skills and Requirements Requirements: - 5-10 years of experience of back-end development in a modern language (EX: Python, Java, or other) - Strong experience with Test Driven Development (TDD) - Experience working in an AWS environment - Expert in a programming language, but is familiar with more than one - Experience in technical implementation, and modern solutioning - Experience working in a large enterprise level environment - Ability to pass government public trust clearance - this requires meeting work authorization, credit, and criminal history requirements - Degree
