Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The Aviation Maintenance Technician is responsible for the scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of assigned aircraft. The Aviation Maintenance Technician performs all maintenance, inspections, and documentation in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements.
Essential Job Functions
Ensures compliance with all FAA, manufacturer and company maintenance requirements.
Communicates with the Director of Maintenance on all matters and for work schedules and on call times.
Performs daily/preflight inspection of aircraft in accordance with manufacturer’s guidelines.
Performs and documents scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and inspections in accordance with manufactures and FAA requirements and procedures
Maintains all manufacturer and company manuals in current condition.
Assists with the development of Life Flight goals and objectives consistent with the institutional missions and goals; implements action plans for those goals in conjunction with administration and Life Flight Director.
Ensures quality of maintenance operations by maintaining strategies to insure maintenance competence.
Reviews quality assurance of maintenance operations.
Responsible for all other flight operations duties as assigned.
Assists with investigation of complaints for facts and resolution.
Develops and maintains good working relationships with Mercy Transportation Management Team, fellow employees and other in conduct of daily business.
Ensures company and employee compliance with FAA, hospital, CAMTS policies, procedures and standards.

Licensing/Certification
Current mechanic certificate with airframe and power plant ratings (required)
Education
High School/GED (required)
Work Experience
5 years’ experience with airframe and power plant license, previous rotary wing experience (preferred)
Training
Factory schooling on type model that is being maintained within one year of becoming Sr. Technician (required)

Long-distance or air travel as needed- not to exceed 10% travel.
