WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION?

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Accountant to join our Ceded Reinsurance team in a rotational role. This individual will be responsible for the administration of various reinsurance treaties across multiple entities within our insurance company. In addition, the individual will participate in various accounting and reporting activities the reinsurance team is responsible for.  The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, a team player, and can respond to change with speed and agility.

This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in an office (Hartford, CT) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Primary Job Function: Financial management and analysis supporting corporate finance and reinsurance

Key accountabilities include:

Administer and manage various complex reinsurance treaties across multiple entities ensuring financial requirements are metAnalyze and interpret reinsurance contracts to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.Ensure accurate and timely accounting and reporting of ceded reinsurance transactionsTake ownership of assigned treaties and act as the primary point of contact for external reinsurers, auditors, third party administrators and internal managementDevelop and implement innovative solutions to improve reinsurance accounting processesStay current with emerging technologies and integrate them into the finance and reinsurance accounting functions

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.Experience in reinsurance accounting or a related fieldTechnical expertise in accounting and financeStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work effectively in a team environmentProficiency in using accounting/reinsurance software and other relevant technologiesStrong Microsoft Suite skills (excel/word/PowerPoint/etc.)Willingness to embrace new and emerging technologiesExperience with regulatory reporting and compliance in the insurance industryStrong project management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneouslyDetail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy in workProven ability to work independently and take initiativeExhibit a keen eye for process improvement and a willingness to drive change to processes

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$81,600 - $122,400
