Sr Advanced Test Engineer
As a **Senior Advanced Test Engineer** here at Honeywell, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that products and systems can withstand the environmental stresses they may encounter during their lifecycle. This position focuses on testing and evaluating products in various environmental conditions such as temperature extremes, vibration, and other factors that can affect performance and reliability. You will report directly to our Sr Test Engineering Manager and you’ll work out of our Mississauga, ON location. In this role, you be responsible for designing, conducting, and analyzing environmental tests to validate product performance and reliability under specified conditions. This position requires collaboration with product design and development teams to ensure products meet regulatory compliance and customer expectations. A strong foundation in electronic principles, along with problem-solving skills to address engineering challenges, is required. **The Honeywell building is a controlled goods program environment. Candidates must be eligible for CGP security clearance.** **KEY RESPONSIBILITIES** 1. **Design and Development:** 2. Manage documentation of design processes, testing protocols, and compliance with industry standards. 3. Document test procedures, results, and recommendations for design improvements. 4. Develop test software using National Instruments LabWindows and TestStand to automate product testing, focusing on technician needs (HMI). 5. Develop prototypes and models to test and evaluate the functionality and feasibility of electronic test designs. 6. Create detailed electronic schematics and review layouts for circuit boards, selecting components and designing equipment test racks using a combination of COTS and custom equipment. 7. **Test Planning and Execution:** 8. Develop and implement a comprehensive environmental testing approach based on product requirements and applicable standards (e.g., MIL-STD, IPC, ASTM) and develop Test Instructions and Environmental Screening Procedures. 9. Develop and present Test Equipment Preliminary and Critical Design presentations at Design Reviews to internal and external customers. 10. Conduct tests such as thermal cycling and vibration to assess product reliability and performance. 11. Conduct Measurement System Analysis to assess equipment performance and create reports and presentations for Test Readiness. 12. **Equipment Management:** 13. Create Calibration documents to maintain environmental test equipment, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards. 14. Collaborate with the Engineering support team to troubleshoot equipment issues and improve equipment downtime. 15. **Data Analysis and Reporting:** 16. Analyze test data and provide detailed reports on findings, including any failures or deviations from expected performance. 17. Perform trend analysis and recommendations for test improvements. 18. **Cross-Functional Collaboration:** 19. Participate in planning meetings providing test systems capability, alternatives, and design options. 20. Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, and product management teams to identify and formalize test requirements and specifications. 21. Collaborate with project leads from conception through production, working with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products on time. 22. Create Basis of Estimate (BOE) to support Test Leads and work closely with vendors to obtain quotations and timely deliveries. 23. Participate in planning meetings providing inputs for product testability. 24. Work closely with software engineers, mechanical engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate electronic test systems with overall product designs. 25. Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate project status, results, and recommendations to management and clients. 26. **Regulatory Compliance and Standards:** 27. Stay updated with industry standards and regulations, ensuring testing protocols align with current practices and certification requirements. 28. Participate in internal audits and continuous improvement efforts to enhance the environmental testing processes. 29. Assist in maintaining certifications by coordinating with external testing labs and auditors. 30. **Continuous Improvement:** 31. Identify opportunities for process improvements in testing methodologies and techniques. 32. Stay informed about new testing technologies and industry trends to enhance testing capabilities. **YOU MUST HAVE** + Bachelor's degree in electrical or aerospace engineering. + Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental testing, including understanding complex test setups and methodologies, ideally in a regulated industry such as aerospace and automotive. **WE VALUE** + A master’s degree is a plus. + Desired experience in aerospace engineering or related industries. + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. + Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment. + Strong knowledge of environmental testing standards such as MIL-STD.
