Reporting to the Controller, the **Senior Accountant** is responsible for supervising team members in performing all accounting transactions based on statutory and USGAAP, MXGAAP, and SOX standards. This role ensures the delivery of the month-end closing with high quality and compliance with local regulations. Additionally, the position is accountable for accurate and timely tax and audit compliance.
The Senior Accountant manages day-to-day finance and accounting operations, including journal entries, accounts receivable and payable, and the use of financial technology systems. The role ensures timely reconciliation and reporting of all financial statements, prepares financial analyses for the Country Controller and other key stakeholders as requested, and maintains tax records. The Senior Accountant serves as the primary contact for internal staff regarding invoicing, bill payments, cash receipts, revenue, and costs. They also implement and train staff in software that streamlines processes and improves the distribution and accessibility of financial information.
This position is part of the Finance team located in Tlanepantla, Mexico City, and will be on-site.
**In this role, a typical day will look like:**
+ Ensure all the accounting transactions are recorded in a timely and accurate manner with a high standard of supporting documentation. Managing and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department.
+ Knowledge of accounting entries such as accruals, deferrals, and reclassifications as needed to ensure accounting transactions are timely and accurate based on USGAAP (Global Accounting Policy), Mexican GAAP, electronic accounting, and tax requirements. Such entries include banking operations, intercompany movements, fixed assets, inventory, depreciations, amortizations, payroll, allocation of expenses, and adjustments of reserves and provisions.
+ Deep knowledge of federal taxes, transfer pricing, and any corporate tax applicable to Mexican entities, while developing an understanding of the business and improving research and technical skills.
+ Strong understanding of SOX methodology and associated standards, ensuring compliance and be able to implement and improve processes, coordinating testing of internal control over financial reporting to share results and create efficiencies.
+ Prepare financial statements in a timely and accurate manner in compliance with the Mexican regulations and following the Company’s Global Accounting Policy.
+ Perform Balance sheet reconciliations, explain, and adjust outstanding balances.
+ Keep documentation updated and traceable for compliance with the tax provisions of electronic accounting and for the monthly payment of local and federal taxes.
+ Lead proactively and provide support in internal and external audits (SAT).
+ Actively participate and support the implementation of a new ERP.
**The essential requirements of the job include:**
Degree + 5–8 years accounting experience (ideally CPA or equivalent).
MS Excell Advanced
Strong USGAAP, MXGAAP, SOX, tax, and audit background.
Leadership experience managing or mentoring a team.
ERP/financial systems experience, ideally with an implementation.
English fluency.
