The Naval Power Office of the Chief Engineer at Raytheon is seeking a talented and experienced technical leader as Squall Chief Engineer to join our team.

The Squall Chief Engineer (CE) is the key technical executive responsible for overseeing the technical baseline and ensuring the successful execution of program technical objectives. CEs typically have significant experience as subject matter experts, Integrated Product Team Leads, Cross Product Team Leads or Lead Systems Engineers. In this role, you will bring a wealth of knowledge across multiple engineering disciplines to develop sensor systems, transition them into production, and manufacture these products. You will lead a multi-discipline engineering team that will design and sustain sensor subsystems. As technical leaders, Chief Engineers work closely with program management to deliver on contracted program goals, ensuring the highest level of engineering performance and innovation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and shaping the analysis, design, integration, and production support of the Squall sensor in its ultimate platform. The selected candidate will be expected to provide technical oversight, delegate tasks, and work with the Engineering organization to establish technology roadmaps, increase capacity and thruput, and contribute to general innovation. In addition, the candidate will interface with customer leadership on a regular basis.

This position is a full-time, onsite role, located in McKinney, TX with travel required to Tucson, AZ approximately one week per month.

What You Will Do

Own the technical data package for the Squall advanced sensor productEstablish fundamental Engineering infrastructure for Configuration Change Boards, Failure Review Boards, FRACAS activities and other continuous improvement effortsEnsure technical integrity and engineering execution across the Program Leadership Team and other Functions to meet and/or exceed cost, schedule, and technical requirementsProvide technical leadership in addressing both development and production constraints and act as primary technical point of contact with senior internal and external customer counterparts, operations program management and engineering leadershipChampion technical program execution continuous improvementDrive the technical dimensions for a critical production capacity growth strategy for the business, focusing on test minimization/optimization, yield improvement, requirements decomposition, digital engineering, proactive supplier technical engagement, etc.Support the capture of new business and influence technical and product line roadmaps, ensuring they are reflected in program planning and executionPlan out and lead the incremental break-in of upgrades and system improvementsTechnically engage with major subcontractors and partners to ensure product deliverablesDirect a team of multi-disciplined engineers in support of sensor development, production and sustainmentBusiness travel to Tucson, Arizona up to once per month to support hardware activities and program meetings

Qualifications You Must Have

Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of ten (10) years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced degree in a related field and minimum seven (7) years experienceExperience with design, integration, manufacture, and/or test of RF subsystemsExperience with design, integration, manufacture, and/or test of RF componentsExperience interacting across engineering disciplines (e.g. Systems, Mechanical, SW, Algorithms, etc.) to drive critical thinking and problem solvingExperience in Risk and Opportunity managementActive and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
