Summary
Job Summary
As an SPD Supervisor with Moffitt, you will ensure patient safety and decrease infectious risk to our
patients by supervising and assessing the quality of work activities of all Sterile Processing personnel to
insure safe, compliant, and timely reprocessing of medical devices. Actively working alongside personnel,
while ensuring daily questions and concerns are addressed. Supports and implements training for the
Sterile Processing Department to ensure patient safety and other safety practices as appropriate.

Minimum Education Level
High School Diploma/GED
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
CSPDT - Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician through CBSPD within 12 months from date of hire/transfer OR CRST - Certified Registered Cental Technician through HSPA within 12 months from date of hire/Transfer
CHL - Certified Healthcare Leader through HSPA within 2 years from date of hire/transfer OR CPSPM - Certified Sterile Processing Management through CBSPD within 2 years from date of hire/transfer
Minimum Experience Required
5 years minimum experience in Sterile Processing or other relevant healthcare experience. Must have training in instrument tracking system/s. Call Requirements: no routine call is required except when call coverage cannot be filled due to illness or other circumstances involving a regularly scheduled employee. The supervisor then has the option of either enlisting assistance from the remaining call pool or accepting the call assignment.
Minimum Skills/Specialized Training Required
Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing & Distribution
Personnel (CSPD) upon hire.
Educational requirements and certified status must be maintained.
Familiar with Operating Room routines, infection control principles and regulatory practices.
Strong leadership skills. Knowledge of sterilization parameters (decontamination, instrument preparation,
sterilization) and universal precautions. Strong communication skills that include both verbal and written
accuracy. Good judgement skills. Ability to understand the working mechanism & proper handling of all
flexible scope models by manufacturers used throughout organization (Olympus, Fujinon, Pentax, etc.).
