Halifax Regional Municipality is inviting applications for one (1) permanent, full-time position for Sportsfield Technician in the Parks division of Parks & Recreation.

Under the direction of the Supervisor, the Sportsfield Technician is responsible for all aspects of athletic field and sports courts maintenance and for the operation of all vehicles and equipment related to maintenance. By working safely and cooperatively with others, the Sportsfield Technicians are responsible to contribute to the achievement of operational objectives of the Parks division.

Familiarity with Occupational Health and Safety standards and practices;Familiarity with Halifax Athletic Field Standards and a clear understanding of customer needs;Good working knowledge and understanding of internal and external client needs;Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision;Must be self-directed and self-motivated;Must be willing to take training for any of the equipment for practices related to turf maintenance (i.e. utility tractors, skid steer, with applicable attachments).Security Clearance Requirements: Applicants may be required to complete an employment security screening check.
Please note – Testing may be conducted as a component of the selection process to assess technical and job specific knowledge. Candidates, who are selected for testing, may be tested in a group setting, scheduled at the employer’s discretion.
Candidates must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position and have valid licensing, as required.

WORK STATUS: Permanent, Full-time
HOURS OF WORK: Normal hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 3:00 pm; however, summer, weekend shifts and/or other shifts may be required.
SALARY: $27.80 per hour as per CUPE 108 Collective Agreement.
WORK LOCATION: 11 Turner Drive, Dartmouth.
