Job DescriptionPlease note that this is not an exhaustive list of everything that needs to be done. You are required to perform any other duties reasonably required to support resort operations, as assigned by the Head of Department, consistent with the nature of the position and applicable company policies. NH Maldives Kuda Rah employees always find new ways to look after the business, their guests, and their colleagues. Within this, the key responsibilities for this position are:
Transfers & Boat Operations
Every evening review and confirm daily transfer and excursion schedules in advance, including guest names, number of passengers, luggage requirements, special needs, and operational instructions.Prepare and set up the vessel in accordance with the scheduled trip, weather conditions, and approved operating procedures. During the rainy season, ensure adequate umbrellas, towels, and protective coverings are available on board.Ensure the vessel, crew, and equipment are ready and positioned at the guest jetty at least 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure times.Operate the vessel in a safe, smooth, and professional manner, ensuring guest comfort while strictly prioritizing safety at all times.Coordinate meal arrangements for self and crew with the Front Office Manager if duty schedules or trips result in missed meals.Ensure compliance with guest service standards during transfers and excursions, providing assistance with embarkation, disembarkation, and luggage handling when required.Boat Maintenance & Safety
Operate all vessels in full compliance with Maldives maritime laws, rules, and regulations as set by the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation.Ensure the vessel is seaworthy at all times, with a valid Seaworthy Certificate available on board and all related conditions strictly adhered to and if the seaworthiness is close to expiry inform to the department in charge.Carry a valid Boat Captain’s License at all times while on duty and during all trips.Clean the boat and equipment’s. Ensure that the boat is in good working condition at all times and report any maintenance issues immediately. Follow up maintenance issues with Front Office Manager until it is resolved.Conduct routine inspections of the vessel, engine, safety equipment, and navigation systems before and after each trip.Carry out all the maintenance work of the boat or its engine with engineering department delegates and update Front Office manager until it is resolve. Maintain and at times, build anchor points and nautical navigation lights.Ensure life jackets, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, communication equipment, navigation lights, and emergency equipment are available, functional, and properly maintained.Always be responsible and take precautionary measures to avoid any risky incidents. For example, ensure there are no petrol leakages that life jackets are available, that fire extinguishers are in working condition etc.Maintain high standards of cleanliness and order on board, ensuring the vessel and equipment are kept in good condition.Assist with and coordinate scheduled and unscheduled maintenance works alongside Engineering Department representatives.Assess weather and sea conditions continuously and make operational decisions accordingly. Advise the Front Office Manager promptly if conditions are unsafe for travel.At all times keep in mind guest and crew safety first and drive the boats accordingly.Guest Service, Communication & Reporting
Communicate between reception team to co-ordinate arrival and departure times, and any other guest issues and requests faced during the trip.Communicate promptly with the Front Office Manager regarding operational issues, guest concerns, safety matters, or schedule changes.Communicate regularly and as required any issues with boats or guests to the Front Office manager.Interact with guests in a courteous and professional manner, addressing questions, providing information, and ensuring a positive guest experience during transfers and excursions.Resolve guest concerns within the scope of authority and escalate matters when required to ensure guest satisfaction. Write incident reports regarding any incidents during the trip. Supervise assigned crew members during operations and report any performance, conduct, or disciplinary concerns to the Front Office Manager.General & Professional Responsibilities
Act as the senior authority on board, ensuring discipline, professionalism, and adherence to resort policies at all times.Uphold the resort’s safety, service, and environmental standards, including responsible fuel usage and marine conservation practices.Participate in safety drills, emergency response training, and departmental briefings as required.Perform any other reasonable duties related to marine operations as assigned by Management.QualificationsValid Maldives Boat Captain License issued by the Maldives Transport Authority (MTA).Minimum 3–5 years of experience operating boats or marine vessels, preferably in a resort or hospitality environment in the Maldives.Good knowledge of Maldives maritime laws, navigation rules, lagoon navigation, and reef safety.Valid Seaworthy Certificate knowledge and compliance with Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation regulations.Basic to good command of English (spoken and understood) to communicate effectively with guests and colleagues.Basic knowledge of engine operations, boat maintenance, and troubleshooting.STCW / Marine safety certifications such as First Aid, Fire Safety, and Sea Survival will be an advantage.Ability to assess weather conditions and sea safety before operating vessels.Good communication skills in English; additional languages are an advantage due to guest interaction.Experience in guest transfer operations, excursions, and marine guest services in a resort environment.Physically fit and able to work in outdoor marine conditions.Additional InformationAlways a Pleasure, Always Convenient, Always Trustworthy & Always Fulfilling
