Akron General's Speech & Language Pathology Department treats common speech and language disorders, as well as common medical conditions that cause speech, language or swallowing disorders. As a Speech Pathologist on the team, you will evaluate and diagnose these disorders in patients as well as develop individualized treatment plans. **A caregiver in this position works PRN (as needed) from 8:00AM - 4:30PM, with the availability to work one weekend per month.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Evaluate and treat speech language pathology patients. + Communicate to referral sources about patient's initial condition, progress and discharge disposition. + Complete patient-related and non-patient-related documentation. + Delegate and supervise the patient care of support staff and students. + Market services to patients, referral sources and the public. + Form and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with patients and staff. + Effectively organize work assignments and time, without compromising quality patient care, to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency. + Participate in continuing education, in-services, orientation programs and student programs. + Keep treatment areas and department clean and orderly. + Complete mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements. + Maintain applicable certification/licensure. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Master's Degree in Speech Pathology + Current license to practice Speech Pathology in the state of Ohio + Current Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) OR working towards attaining competency as issued by ASHA + CPR certification Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Previous experience as a Speech Pathologist Our caregivers continue to create the best outcomes for our patients across each of our facilities.
