Akron General's Speech & Language Pathology Department treats common speech and language disorders, as well as common medical conditions that cause speech, language or swallowing disorders. As a Speech Pathologist on the team, you will evaluate and diagnose these disorders in patients as well as develop individualized treatment plans. 

A caregiver in this position works PRN (as needed) from 8:00AM – 4:30PM, with the availability to work one weekend per month. 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

Evaluate and treat speech language pathology patients. 

Communicate to referral sources about patient's initial condition, progress and discharge disposition. 

Complete patient-related and non-patient-related documentation. 

Delegate and supervise the patient care of support staff and students. 

Market services to patients, referral sources and the public. 

Form and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with patients and staff. 

Effectively organize work assignments and time, without compromising quality patient care, to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency. 

Participate in continuing education, in-services, orientation programs and student programs. 

Keep treatment areas and department clean and orderly. 

Complete mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements. 

Maintain applicable certification/licensure. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology 

Current license to practice Speech Pathology in the state of Ohio 

Current Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) OR working towards attaining competency as issued by ASHA 

CPR certification 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

Previous experience as a Speech Pathologist
