Speech Language Pathologist Lead

Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Speech Language Pathologist Lead provides direct speech and language therapy services while supporting therapy leadership in managing departmental operations. This role includes mentoring staff, ensuring high-quality patient care, assisting with administrative duties, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to improve therapy outcomes.

Assist Therapy leadership in overseeing daily operations, including scheduling, caseload management, and workflow improvements.

Mentor and serve as a clinical resource to speech therapy staff, including new hires, clinical fellows, and graduate interns.

Help implement policies, procedures, and best practices to maintain high-quality care.

Serve as a liaison between the SLP team and Therapy leadership, communicating concerns and suggestions for improvement.

Assist in training programs and continuing education initiatives with internal and external staff.

Assist with program development, data collection, and quality improvement projects.

Help manage department resources, including therapy materials and budget considerations.

Evaluates, plans and implements communication and/or swallow treatment programs according to physician referral, and/or plan of care.

Designs programs to meet the patient’s oral motor/swallowing, speech/language, and cognitive needs.

Applies and shares advanced knowledge of new treatment philosophies and techniques, changes in the practice act or rules, or changes affecting the healthcare industry.

Plans and organizes work in a systematic manner to enhance patient care and departmental outcomes and achieve established productivity standards

Promotes and Supports positive and professional customer service, while interacting with clients, guests and hospital personnel.
