Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) Position Overview The Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) works under the supervision and guidance of the SLP to deliver speech-language therapy services aligned with each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP). The SLPA helps students build communication, social, and self-regulation skills that support lifelong independence and well-being. Key Responsibilities Provide direct speech-language therapy services under SLP supervision. Support communication, language, and social skill development across school and community settings. Collect and record accurate data on student progress toward IEP goals. Collaborate with teachers, assistants, and families to ensure consistent support. Participate in IEP meetings, training sessions, and team collaborations. Help create and implement individualized materials and therapy plans. Promote a positive, respectful, and engaging learning environment for all students. Qualifications License: California Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders, Education, Psychology, or related field Experience: Minimum 2 years working with individuals on the autism spectrum or with developmental disabilities At least 1 year supporting nonverbal individuals using AAC systems Skills & Attributes Knowledge of child development, communication strategies, and AAC systems Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills Proficiency in Google Workspace Compassionate, flexible, and patient approach with students Ability to collect and analyze progress data Collaborative mindset and commitment to professional growth Physical & Safety Requirements Ability to actively engage with students, including standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 lbs. Must complete Safety-Care certification (provided by Creekside) to support students safely and effectively.
