A Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) diagnoses and treats conditions that affect the ability to communicate and swallow. As an expert in communication, you will help assess, diagnose, treat and prevent speech, language, voice and swallowing disorders for our patients. In this role, you can help patients improve their speech, open new communication possibilities and improve their ability to comprehend others, express themselves and swallow safely. Aside from supporting others, you will also have endless opportunities to improve your own skills through Cleveland Clinic’s wealth of resources and educational programs.
This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working days between 8:00 a.m. -- 4:30 p.m., including one weekend per month, rotating holidays, and occasional weekdays as needed.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Evaluate and treat patients with injuries and/or diseases which result in a loss or impairment of speech, language, voice, cognitive and/or swallowing function.
Assist triage of treatments/assessments with weekend calls to department for pending discharges.
Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patients’ conditions.
Establish goals and plans of care.
Perform therapy interventions utilizing standard speech therapy techniques and skills.
Complete documentation.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Master’s Degree
Graduate of an accredited Speech-Language Pathology Program
Current Ohio license as a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)
Hold or have applied for the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Pathology from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Experience in a clinical area
Two or more years of experience
Physical Requirements:
Manual dexterity and visual acuity to perform tasks needed for patient care and administrative tasks.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
