Position Summary Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities? Ability Beyond is seeking a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our Connecticut Therapy Services team. In this role, you will provide specialized services within Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) group home settings, evaluating and treating communication, feeding, and swallowing disorders. You’ll collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized protocols that enhance communication, feeding, and swallowing outcomes for each individual. Key Responsibilities + Conduct comprehensive evaluations of feeding, swallowing, speech, language, hearing, and overall communication abilities as they relate to daily living, health, safety, and quality of life. + Recommend and implement interventions to support safe swallowing, effective communication, and improved hearing and language outcomes (including food/fluid modifications, adaptive utensils, positioning strategies, and AAC systems). + Provide direct therapy and develop training for staff to support individuals in daily routines. + Monitor progress, adjust interventions, and update goals to ensure continued safety and skill development. + Educate and support individuals, staff, and families on safe feeding practices, communication strategies, and hearing supports. + Coordinate with external clinicians and specialists as needed. + Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements. + Participate in team conferences, staff meetings, and other relevant meetings. + Assist with equipment and supply inventory and general upkeep of treatment areas. + Adhere to all agency policies, procedures, and safety standards. Qualifications + Current Connecticut licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist. + Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). + Minimum of one year of relevant work experience. + Commitment to ASHA’s ethical and professional standards. + Ability to travel to group homes and other assigned locations. + Experience working with individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities in clinical settings preferred. + Familiarity with feeding and swallowing disorders, including assessment and treatment, is a plus.
