**SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST FOR BAYLOR SCOTT & WHITE CLINIC**
Provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of patients with voice and upper airway problems. Responsible for evaluation and treatment of primarily adult patients, as well as select pediatric patients in an interdisciplinary voice center.
+ **Location/Facility: Baylor Scott & White Clinic Dallas TX.**
+ **Shift/Schedule: Day shift 8am -5pm (No call schedule)**
+ **Experience with diagnosis and treatment of voice and upper airway disorders** **Position Key Accountabilities:**
+ Performs clinical evaluation of voice and upper airway symptoms as related to educational, medical, social and psychological factors to identify patient needs for therapy services.
+ Evaluates special populations, including professional voice users/performers, patients requesting gender aligning care, patients with chronic lung disease, and select pediatric patients with voice/airway conditions.
+ Performs diagnostic laryngeal imaging examinations (flexible and rigid videostroboscopy) and acoustic/aerodynamic assessments of voice/airway function.
+ Performs instrumental assessments of swallowing, including flexible endoscopic evaluations of swallowing (FEES) preferred, but not required.
+ Plans and conduct rehabilitative treatment programs consistent with the specific area(s) of deficit. Maintains competency in up-to-date physiologic voice therapy and respiratory retraining skills.
+ Coordinates pre- and post-operative therapy services for select patients undergoing surgery for voice and airway issues. This includes determining the need for, and facilitating the referral to, specific specialists and imaging.
+ Performs outpatient therapy sessions with patients, in person or virtually. Writes reports on diagnostic findings, therapy used, and progress made.
+ Depending on department needs, may recruit subjects for research programs, as well as actively participate in the conceptualization and actualization of research projects within the department.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
**JOB SUMMARY**
The Speech Language Pathologist 1 plans and administers speech language pathology services including evaluation, treatment and education programs for patients to restore speech, language and swallowing abilities.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE**
PATIENT CARE: Evaluates, treats and monitors patient within the speech pathology treatment plan. Modifies therapy program and goals.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES: Performs thorough and concise clinical documentation in a timely manner. Enters charges accurately. Understands reimbursement related to practice setting.
COMMUNICATION: Communicates effectively with patients and families, departmental coworkers, and members of the medical care team. Provides education to patients, family and staff.
CLINICAL SUPERVISION: Supervises students and volunteers. Clinical fellowship mentors and those in their clinical fellowship period will follow the American Speech Language Hearing Association supervision guidelines.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Advances clinical skills through ongoing education, literature review and implementation of evidence based practice. Shares knowledge to develop the clinical skills of colleagues. Adheres to organizational, national, and state regulatory guidelines.
ORGANIZATIONAL FOCUS: Maintains awareness of system goals. Aligns individual goals and work activities to support or impact the system goals.
**KEY SUCCESS FACTORS**
Must have completed Clinical Fellowship Year.
Must possess excellent interpersonal relation skills to include excellent oral and written communication skills.
Must demonstrate competency in assigned areas as specified for each clinician.
Exhibits strong interpersonal, teamwork and leadership skills with all levels of the healthcare team and assures delivery of excellent customer service to all patients, visitors, physicians and coworkers.
Possesses proficient computer knowledge; operates multiple computer systems and standard Rehabilitation equipment.
High attention to detail in fast paced and dynamic environment.
Ability to multitask effectively while maintaining a high level of productivity.

 Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
