Special Education Teacher – Edgewood Elementary (2025–2026 School Year)
Location: Edgewood Elementary Start Date: February 2025 or ASAP Contract Length: 2025–2026 School Year Schedule: 37.5 hours per week Positions Available: 1
Position Overview
The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, provides high-quality instructional services to students in kindergarten through grade 12. This role requires strong collaboration skills and a commitment to team-based planning and implementation of individualized student programs. Responsibilities include delivering specially designed instruction, offering tutorial assistance, and consulting with general education staff to support student success.
This position focuses on Learning Support for students with minimal to moderate delays in academic and/or social-emotional skills. Students receive most of their instruction in the general education setting, with targeted special education services provided as needed.
Responsibilities
+ Provide specially designed instruction aligned with student IEPs
+ Support students with academic and social-emotional needs in inclusive settings
+ Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and administrators
+ Participate in IEP development, progress monitoring, and team meetings
+ Deliver tutorial assistance and behavioral/learning support as appropriate
+ Maintain compliance with federal, state, and district regulations
+ Uphold professional standards of practice
Minimum Requirements
+ Washington State Special Education (SPED) License – Required
+ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (preferred)
+ Valid state teaching certificate as required by district/state regulations
+ Minimum one year of teaching experience (preferred)
+ Preferred certifications:
+ Standard Elementary Teaching
+ Standard Secondary Teaching
+ Standard Special Teaching
+ Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) endorsement
+ Current CPR certification (if applicable)
+ TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (if applicable)
+ Current health certificate per state or contract requirements
+ Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements
+ Must be at least 18 years old
