Special Education Teacher – Emotional Growth Center (EGC)

Position Overview
The Special Education Teacher provides high-quality instructional and behavioral support to K–12 students with special needs. Working under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, this role emphasizes collaboration, individualized instruction, and partnership with general education staff to support student success.
This position is assigned to the Emotional Growth Center (EGC)—a specialized program designed for students with significant behavioral, emotional, and social challenges who require a highly structured, supportive environment.
Program Description: Emotional Growth Center (EGC)
The EGC serves students who have not responded to interventions in less restrictive settings. The program focuses on developing emotional regulation, social skills, and academic engagement through:
+ Intensive individual and group social-emotional instruction
+ Behavioral supports with structured incentives and interventions
+ Consultation from a school psychologist for individualized protocols
+ Evidence-based classroom management strategies
+ Heightened structure, routines, and positive behavior supports
+ Modified academic curriculum when needed
+ Gradual inclusion opportunities in general education settings
+ Small class size (caseload of 8 students
+ Minimum Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (preferred)
+ Valid state teaching certificate per district/state regulations
+ Preferred certifications:
+ Standard Elementary Teaching
+ Standard Secondary Teaching
+ Standard Special Teaching
+ Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) endorsement
+ At least one year of teaching experience (preferred)
+ CPR certification (if applicable)
+ TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (if applicable)
+ Current health certificate (if required)
+ Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
+ Must be at least 18 years old
