Job Posting: Special Education Teacher – Academy School District (Colorado Springs, CO)
Location: Colorado Springs, CO Schedule: Monday–Friday, 37.5 hours/week Contract Length: 2025–2026 School Year Start Date: ASAP Positions Available: Elementary & High School (Mild to Severe Needs)
About the Role
Academy School District is seeking passionate and dedicated Special Education Teachers to provide high-quality instructional and behavioral support to students in grades K–12. Under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, you will:
+ Deliver specialized instruction aligned with student IEPs
+ Provide tutorial assistance and academic support
+ Collaborate with general education teachers and school teams
+ Participate in planning, implementing, and evaluating student programs
+ Support students across mild, moderate, and severe needs settings
These roles are essential in helping students access their education and achieve meaningful progress.
Contract Details
+ Full 2025–2026 school year
+ 37.5 student-contact hours per week
+ Weekly compensation

Minimum Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (preferred)
+ Valid state teaching certificate as required by district or state regulations
+ One year of teaching experience preferred
+ Preferred certifications:
+ Standard Elementary Teaching
+ Standard Secondary Teaching
+ Standard Special Teaching
+ Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) endorsement
+ Compliance with all professional standards of practice
+ Current CPR certification (if applicable)
+ TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (if applicable)
+ Current health certificate (per state or contract requirements)
+ Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
