Put your research, organizational, and editorial skills to work collaborating with newsrooms across the country. This internship offers hands-on experience supporting editorial initiatives that strengthen reporting, ensure accuracy, and uphold newsroom standards. Based in Tampa, Florida, this onsite internship focuses on editorial operations, content coordination, and research support. Interns work closely with the Editorial Services team, as well as our journalists around the country, to help execute initiatives that elevate journalism, support newsroom performance, and serve audiences with clarity and purpose
What you can expect in this role
As a Spectrum intern, you’ll spend the summer working alongside two teams — your respective department and your intern peer group. Department and team-focused projects account for about 80% of your schedule. You’ll spend the other 20% on professional development sessions and networking activities, including the Kickoff Conference on May 27th, webinars, community service, cross-functional projects, and final presentations.

Conduct in-depth research and gather background materials to support editorial projectsView, log, and organize video content for newsroom and editorial useAssist in cutting and preparing video segments for internal and editorial initiativesCollaborate with editors and producers to ensure content is accurate, relevant, and timelytimelySupport project workflows for cross-newsroom initiatives and audience-focused contentParticipate in editorial planning discussions and contribute to maintaining newsroom standardsYou’ll gain hands-on experience in editorial research, project coordination, and video content workflows while collaborating with teams across a national news organization. This internship provides mentorship from experienced editorial professionals and valuable insight into how newsroom standards are maintained across platforms, markets, and time zones.
Required qualifications
Must be currently enrolled in an accredited College or University completing a bachelor’s degreeMust have at least a 3.0 GPA or greater in current programAbility to travel locally to Spectrum intern development events and activities throughout the programAuthorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship
Preferred qualifications
Strong research, organizational, and time management skillsInterest in editorial processes, project management, and cross-platform contentAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively with a teamFamiliarity with newsroom operations, video formats, or digital content is a plus#LI-WP1
