Join our team at a community-focused hospital where collaboration is key! In this role, you’ll receive, sort, and process specimens across all technical sections, enter requisition and patient data, report results, assist with charge coding, train new staff, and handle related clerical duties.
Responsibilities:
Provide courteous, respectful, and positive service while assisting the department in completing daily tasks.
Receive, sort, and prioritize all specimens, monitoring pneumatic tube and courier deliveries to ensure timely processing.
Verify specimens (blood, urine, and other body fluids) against requisitions or labels and address any discrepancies.
Prepare, label, aliquot, store, and, when needed, send specimens to outside locations following laboratory policies.
Enter specimen receive times and other data accurately into the Laboratory Information System.
Investigate and resolve specimen issues, complete quality forms, and request assistance as needed.
Answer inquiries regarding proper specimen collection, results, and normal ranges.
Follow all safety and biohazard protocols to prevent exposure.
Maintain a clean and disinfected work area throughout the shift.
Assist in orienting and training new laboratory staff and perform routine technical and clerical duties as assigned
