Specimen Management Specialist

Labcorp is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join their Specimen Management team in Portland, OR.

 

Work Schedule:  Tuesday - Saturday 3:00am-11:30am, Rotating Sunday Coverage if needed.

Job Responsibilities: 

Act a liaison between the lab, clients, and patients. 

Resolve internal & external customer requests via calls, instant messenger & email communications 

Communicates with customers in respectful and professional manner. 

Work in multiple databases to research complex issues and questions. 

Provide customer education and information as needed. 

Review test forms for accuracy and report any discrepancies. 

Prepare and triage specimens for analysis. 

Accurately identify and label specimens. 

Pack and ship specimens as necessary. 

Prepare and store excess specimen samples.  

 

Minimum Qualification: 

High School Diploma or GED equivalent   

 Preferred Qualification: 

Current or prior Labcorp experience 

Associates degree  

6 months of experience in a medical/clinical laboratory experience 

Additional Job Standards 

Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal 

Familiarity with laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures  

Comfortable handling biological specimens 

Ability to accurately identify specimens 

Experience working in a team environment 

Strong data entry and organizational skills 

High level of attention to detail 

Proficient in MS Office 

Ability to lift up to 40lbs.  

Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
