Specialty Veterinary Technician
**BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Specialty Veterinary Technician to join their Louisville, KY Hospital! BluePearl Pet Hospital, the role of Specialty Veterinary Technician is an exciting, fast-paced opportunity that will allow you to utilize the skills that you have worked so hard to gain. We will also give you the chance to expand and grow your skills, all while working alongside some of the most talented veterinary professionals within our Surgery and Internal Medicine Teams. **Pay:** $20.00 - $40.00 / hour **This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our leveling system** . **Shift: Rotating weekly day shift:** + Week 1: Monday–Thursday, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM + Week 2: Tuesday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM **As a Specialty Veterinary Technician, you will:** + Set up constant rate infusions (CRI). + Calculates all medical math including advanced and CRI (mcg/mg, %/mg, etc.). + Set up for ultrasound and radiology procedures. + Monitoring Anesthesia + Set up and assist with endoscopic procedures (GI, nasal, urinary, airway). Clean and maintain equipment following procedure. + Discharge IM patients from the hospital, including basic client education such as insulin injection, SQ fluid, and feeding tube demonstrations. + Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values. + Utilize their ability to place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein. + Performs physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort. + Able to set up intravenous fluids. + Administers subcutaneous fluids. + Can operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors. + Able to disconnect and connect patient from intravenous fluids aseptically. + Ability to monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload. _BluePearl is committed to a diverse work environment in which all individuals are treated with respect and dignity.
