Position Summary:
The Patient Access Representative plays a key role in ensuring a smooth and professional experience for patients from the point of entry through to their destination. This role is responsible for gathering accurate financial and demographic information to support optimal reimbursement and clinical outcomes. The representative also manages appointment scheduling, patient interviews, charge entry, and payment collection, while providing excellent customer service both in person and over the phone.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate patient flow in a timely and professional manner.
Collect and verify patient demographic and financial information.
Schedule appointments and explain departmental/hospital policies and charges.
Validate and enter charges into appropriate systems.
Collect co-pays and other necessary payments.
Answer incoming calls and direct patients and visitors appropriately.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
Ability to learn and retain medical coding (ICD-10, CPT) preferred.
Familiarity with insurance information and medical terminology is a plus.
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
