**Responsibilities**
The IONM Specialist is a Neuro-diagnostics advanced practitioner responsible for providing advanced, accurate, and high quality neuro-diagnostic testing. Responsible for performing all advanced aspects of Intra-Operative Neurophysiological Monitoring, including complex cases such as craniotomies and spinal cases, vascular cases, mapping cases (spine and/or awake) with a variety of multimodality approaches. This technologist does not only perform and provide advanced, high quality Intra-Operative Neurophysiological Monitoring data but is also skilled and knowledgeable to identify and provide an advanced technical description of IONM waveform responses, discusses with oversight physician and surgeon for proper preplanning/approach of cases and timely reporting of critical findings and interventions. Serves as a mentor and trainer to junior technologists and/or fellows. May be required to work extended hours as warranted by patient and surgical volumes. May be required to participate in on-call rotation. Engagement in collaborative research projects is strongly encouraged.
**Qualifications**
Completion of formal NDT education from an accredited educational institution or hospital-based program and a minimum of seven (7) years of Neurophysiological Intra-Operative Monitoring experience; OR, Graduate from a CAAHEP accredited NDT program and seven (7) years of Neurophysiological Intra-Operative Monitoring experience; OR, an Associate’s degree in Neuro-diagnostics and 5 years of Neurophysiological Intra-Operative Monitoring experience; OR, Bachelor’s degree in Neuro-diagnostics, within 12 months of hire, and five (5) years of Neurophysiological Intra-Operative monitoring experience; OR, Master's degree in Neurosciences or related field, within 12 months of hire, and three (3) years of Neurophysiological Intra-Operative monitoring experience. For Bachelor’s degrees in another field (non-Neuro-diagnostics) then eight (8) years of Neurophysiological Intra-Operative Monitoring experience is required. If no Bachelor’s degree, must possess 10 years of experience in Neurophysiological Intra-Operative Monitoring.Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span. Demonstrated ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and appropriately interpret information relative to the patient's age-specific needs. CNIM credential or any other CNIM related credential required (e.g., NIOM).
al required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days or greater from start date. Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency and certification.
Relevant additional multi-credentials (i.e., REEGT, CLTM, REPT) preferred.
