The Safety Engineer is responsible for supporting the HSE Coordinator in ensuring the implementation and maintenance of programs and procedures that guarantee compliance with legal requirements, the BH Global HSE Program, and client contract requirements. They must engage all employees in relevant Health, Safety, and Environmental matters and work closely with site leadership, providing guidance and support so that operations are carried out in a way that eliminates risks to employees.
As an Occupational Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for:
Ensuring compliance with municipal, state, and federal legal requirements.Implementing Health and Safety procedures that meet the requirements of the Framework, ISO 45001, OHSAS 18001, and client requirements.Planning and leading ISO 45001, OHSAS 18001, and compliance audits, ensuring legal conformity and maintenance of certifications.Executing safety objectives and targets in alignment with BH global goals and ISO 45001/OHSAS 18001 requirements.Ensuring proper training for all employees so they understand the hazards and risks of their activities, as well as the HSE management system procedures that must be followed.Supervising the Occupational Safety and Environmental team to support continuous improvement of HSE performance.Reporting, investigating, and determining corrective and preventive actions for all events.Developing, planning, and implementing new training materials and update existing ones; deliver and develop training on HSE tools, techniques, and policies; identify and establish a system for periodic retraining.Implementing Occupational Safety and Environmental tools.Ensuring that the company’s Health, Safety, and Environmental values, as expressed in corporate policies, are practiced by employees, suppliers, and contractors through the identification, monitoring, and control of significant environmental impacts and occupational risks, based on attitude, leadership, training, and commitment.Working in compliance with company policies and procedures related to quality and operations. Report any nonconformities, concerns, or risk situations related to product/process/service. To be successful in this role you will:
Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and a postgraduate degree in Occupational Safety EngineeringBringing at least 2 years of experience working in Occupational SafetyDemonstrating proficiency using Microsoft Office and having intermediate EnglishValuing knowledge of Ministry of Labor Regulatory Standards and holding Internal Auditor training for OHSAS 18001 (desirable)Requiring technical certification holding CREA registrationWorking with us
