Specialist – Public Relations & Communications - Warren, MI & Madison Heights, MI
GENERAL SUMMARY: The Specialist is responsible for providing strategic communications and engagement support for key internal partners with a focus on initiatives that include community outreach and connection. Committed to continuous learning and supporting a well-informed, highly-engaged workforce, the specialist will create highly engaging content and informational resources across all audiences including key messages, draft development, social media, video and digital content. The specialist will also identify storytelling opportunities, assist with the execution of communication plans, and support the broader efforts of the System Communications team. This position reports to the Manager of System Communications. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: + Supports Communications operations by developing and editing content for major daily, weekly, monthly and specialty communications – with emphasis on engagement, integration and alignment across sites + Creates and edits timely, relevant and highly engaging content to support the health system’s intranet resource OneHENRY + Supports social media, video and other digital content strategies as directed + Assists with implementation and maintenance of digital employee communication strategies including texting and other mobile communications + Assists with the development of communication plans and content for key audiences – covering major system news and initiatives, announcements and programs, partnering closely with other communications team members to inform and engage + Helps to coordinate messaging and information sharing across communications teams for major system-wide initiatives, announcements, programs and other news + Assists with team member engagement and recognitions strategies and events as needed + Works closely with communications leaders to develop metrics to track engagement with internal communications platforms EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: + Minimum of Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in Public Relations, Communications or a related field – or equivalent. + A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in public relations, communications, or a related field, with increasing responsibility. + Exceptional oral, written and digital communication skills. + Excellent people skills – works extremely well with a broad cross-section of team members + Must be a critical thinker, able to distill and communication complex medical and other concepts across broad audiences + Must be guided by a passion for storytelling, natural curiosity and a collaborative “client partner” orientation. + Able to manage multiple projects, accounts and complex issues with an orientation to strategic focus, innovation, creativity and attention to detail and accuracy.
