NPL now has a vacancy for Specialist, Senior – Trusts based in our Port Moresby Office, reporting to our Country Manager.

About the Role

The Specialist, Senior – Trusts will oversee the compliance, management, and administration on behalf of NPL of:  the Porgera Sustainable Development Fund; the Porgera Children’s Trust Fund; and Mining and Petroleum Industries Investment Fund Limited. This role is responsible for ensuring that all trust-related activities are conducted efficiently and in accordance with legal and regulatory standards, in fulfilment of applicable fiduciary duties and in compliance with Barrick’s governance and transparency standards, while supporting the license-to-operate goals of NPL and local communities. 

Key Responsibilities

Serve as a trustee of, managing and overseeing the day-to-day NPL responsibilities regarding, the Porgera Sustainable Development Fund, Porgera SML Children Trust and; Mining and Petroleum Industries Investment Limited. Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and trust deeds.Support, as appropriate, trust board or committee meetings: prepare papers, minutes, and compliance reports, as well as maintain accurate records and documentation for all other relevant trust activities.Report on progress of infrastructure projects undertaken by the Porgera Sustainable Development Fund. Prepare and review trust financial statements, reports, and distributions from the Porgera Sustainable Development Fund, the Porgera SML Children’s Trust Fund and Mining and Petroleum Industries Investment Limited.Working in close coordination with CSR (Community and Social Responsibility) team to respond to beneficiary queries and/or lead or attend community engagement events on Trust related matters.Ensure adherence to anti-corruption, anti-money laundering, counter terrorism and all other governance policies.

Maintain a high level of health and safety awareness and comply with the NPL Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all safety rules and procedures.

 

 About you:

To succeed in this role and thrive with NPL, it is expected you will have the below:

Bachelor’s degree Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Law, or a related field.Proven experience in administration and management with an understanding of trust law and regulatory requirements (with prior experience in trust administration, fund management, or corporate governance roles being an advantage).Excellent organizational and communication skills including a high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.

Fluency in Tok Pisin an advantage combined with an ability to communicate across all levels from Boardrooms to local landowners.

 

Mobilization Requirements

This is a PNG national Staff position based at the Port Moresby office, operating on a five (5) days on / two (2) days off rotation with some travel to site and our operating environment

Applicants must reside in Port Moresby and will be required to:

Successfully complete a pre‑employment medical examination, including drug and alcohol screening (arranged for shortlisted candidates after the interview).Provide a valid Police Clearance Certificate issued within the last six (6) months or able to obtain one.
