Within the Global Payments Practice, the Sanctions Control team is responsible for dispositioning first and second level sanctions alerts.   The Sanctions Specialist is responsible for managing and assisting with various Initiatives within the group, supporting the Global Sanctions Teams located in APAC, EMEA and NA. The Sanctions Specialist provides leadership and direction. Executes business plans and contributes to the development of functional strategy.

Major Duties:

Responsible for supporting the Sanctions functions. Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations and industry trends related to financial crimes.Assists the Global Cash Managers in ensuring that the execution of their business function activities supports the strategic direction of Operations.Acts as liaison for internal Auditors, or Regulators, regarding examinations of all Sanctions related activitiesParticipates in outlining solutions for the most complex Sanctions related initiatives involving multiple lines of defense.Consistently displays a balanced, cross-functional perspective, consulting with the rest of the business to improve efficiency, effectiveness and productivity.Advises partners, including senior management, on compliance with applicable laws, rules and standards, including keeping them informed on developments with business procedures and processes. Monitor anomaly detection system performance and implement detection strategies to reduce false positives and increase detection rates.Proactively research and coordinate enhancements and transformationEnsure changes match industry trends and client expectations in terms of partnering with technology and service delivery.Identify opportunities for continuous efficiencies, scale, and value.Organize the functional work from a process and locational regulatory standpoint.Perform Quality Review of WB, Single Name Lookup, International Transactions, and etc.  Annual or as needed updates to RCSAPerform annual confirmation for Data GovernanceConduct Model Risk Validation TestingProcedure DocumentationCoordinate operational response to complex issues.Coordinate response between operational teams.Highly flexible and adaptable to change.

Knowledge:

Seasoned multi-disciplinary expert with extensive industry knowledge, and functional expertise, of Sanctions support.Extensive knowledge of Sanctions processesLeadership and strategic thought skills are required to assist with the Enterprise sanctions goals, Exceptional ability to analyze and interpret complex data sets and metrics.Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.#LI-Hybrid#LI-GG1

Experience:

10 Years of Sanctions Experience required.Association of Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or similar professional certification preferred.

Salary Range:

$103,000 - 175,200 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
