Special Education Teacher (LBS1) – Calumet City, IL Pay Rate: $55/hr Hours: 37.5 hours/week Schedule: 8:00 AM–3:00 PM (30-minute unpaid lunch) Assignment Duration: ASAP through the end of the service term Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher (LBS1) to provide high-quality specialized instruction to individuals in a self-contained instructional environment. This role supports learners in grades 6–8 and involves collaboration with administrators, paraprofessionals, and instructional staff to develop and implement individualized programs. The ideal candidate is team-focused, organized, and committed to supporting diverse learning needs. Key Responsibilities Provide specialized instruction within a self-contained instructional setting, supporting up to 13 learners. Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in alignment with state and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with program administrators, paraprofessionals, and instructional staff to support academic, behavioral, and social development. Offer consultation, strategies, and resources to support inclusive learning environments. Maintain all required documentation and comply with federal, state, and professional regulations. Participate in meetings, planning sessions, and ongoing professional development. Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (preferred). Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or applicable state teaching certification. LBS1 endorsement preferred. Minimum of one year of teaching or instructional experience (preferred). Current CPR certification, TB test/PPD/chest X-ray, and health certificate if required. Must meet all federal, state, and local compliance standards. Must be at least 18 years of age. Adherence to all relevant professional standards of practice.
