Special Education Teacher (Intervention Specialist, Grades 5–8) Location: Akron, OH Pay: $35/hour — Paid Weekly Schedule: Full-time, On-site About the Role We are seeking a qualified Middle School Intervention Specialist (Grades 5–8) to support students with diverse learning needs in an inclusive and resource-room environment. The ideal educator has a strong understanding of middle-school special education practices, demonstrates excellent IEP case management skills, and is proficient with Ohio’s commonly used IEP platforms such as Frontline IEP (a widely implemented special education management system used across U.S. districts). [codes.ohio.gov] (https://codes.ohio.gov/ohio-administrative-code/rule-3301-51-07) + Provide specialized instruction to students in grades 5–8 across a variety of academic and functional skill areas. + Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families to support student progress. + Conduct progress monitoring, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure compliance with federal IDEA regulations. + Participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, parent conferences, and professional development activities. + Implement accommodations, modifications, and behavior intervention supports tailored to each student’s needs. + Maintain a structured, supportive, and safe learning environment for middle-school learners. Required Qualifications + Active Ohio Teaching License with Intervention Specialist or appropriate Special Education Endorsement. + Experience working with middle-school students receiving special education services. + Proficiency with Ohio IEP systems, ideally Frontline IEP or similar platforms used for IEP development, compliance, and documentation. Education Requirements + Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Intervention Specialist, or a related education field. + Master’s degree preferred (not required). Additional Requirements to Work in an Ohio School + Ability to pass an FBI/BCI background check per Ohio Department of Education requirements. + Up-to-date professional licensure and continuing education as required by the state. + Familiarity with Ohio’s IEP development guidelines and compliance standards, including procedural safeguards outlined by the Ohio Department of Education.
