Special Education Teacher – High School Setting Location: Phoenix, Arizona Schedule: Full-Time, 40 Hours/Week Hours: 7:30 AM – 2:10 PM Start: ASAP Setting: High School Campus (serving students with cognitive, adaptive, and functional needs) Position Overview Amergis (formerly Amergis Healthcare Staffing) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to support high school students with cognitive, adaptive, and functional academic needs. This classroom includes a mix of students who require assistance with daily life skills, functional academics, adaptive behavior, and medical support. The ideal candidate is experienced, collaborative, and highly skilled in supporting diverse learners within a structured and well-resourced environment. Classroom & Campus Support Structure You will work in a supportive and collaborative environment that includes: + 2 dedicated Paraprofessionals in the classroom + Behavior Techs available from the campus group support team + On-site Nurses for medical and health care needs + Access to specialized evaluation staff including: + LLSPs + Diagnosticians + SLPs + Strong administrative and multidisciplinary team collaboration This structure ensures a safe and well-managed classroom environment where teachers can focus on instruction, progress monitoring, and student growth. Key Responsibilities + Provide specialized instruction to high school students with cognitive, adaptive, and functional needs. + Support students requiring functional academics and life skills instruction. + Adapt curriculum and implement differentiated lessons based on student goals and abilities. + Collaborate with paraprofessionals, behavior staff, nurses, and related service providers. + Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs using Arizona’s IEP system (proficiency required). + Maintain accurate progress reports, data tracking, and required documentation. + Create a safe, structured, and positive classroom environment. + Participate in team meetings, family communication, and ongoing professional collaboration. + Coordinate and monitor individualized behavior plans when necessary.
