About the Position
A dynamic school district near Lodi, California is seeking a passionate and skilled Middle School Resource Specialist to support students with mild to moderate disabilities. The ideal candidate is bilingual (English/Spanish preferred) and dedicated to helping adolescents succeed academically, socially, and emotionally within a supportive resource program.
This role covers students from Lodi and nearby communities including Stockton, Galt, Elk Grove, Acampo, Woodbridge, Lockeford, and Manteca, creating a diverse and rewarding caseload.
Key ResponsibilitiesSpecialized Academic Instruction (SAI)
+ Provide targeted instruction in resource room and general education settings.
+ Support students with:
+ Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD)
+ ADHD
+ Mild to moderate Autism Spectrum Disorders
+ Speech/Language Impairments
+ Emotional Regulation/Behavioral Support Needs
+ Other Health Impairments (OHI)
Case Management & IEP Compliance
+ Manage a middle school caseload while meeting all state and federal requirements.
+ Write, update, and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with:
+ California Education Code
+ IDEA
+ District procedures and compliance timelines
+ Conduct academic and behavioral assessments.
+ Track student progress toward goals and provide updates to families and the team.
+ Facilitate or participate in IEP meetings with professionalism and collaboration.
Collaboration & Student Support
+ Partner with general education teachers to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications.
+ Implement evidence-based interventions, behavior plans, and differentiated instruction.
+ Communicate regularly with families — using bilingual communication when appropriate.
+ Participate in PLCs, staff meetings, and district professional development.
Education & Certifications Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
+ Valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential – Mild/Moderate Support Needs (MMSN) or enrollment in an approved intern program
+ English Learner Authorization (ELAM/ELAS/CLAD)
+ Fingerprinting, background clearance, and TB screening
Preferred
+ Bilingual (English/Spanish)
+ Experience with middle school learners
+ Familiarity with California IEP writing platforms and academic intervention tools
Skills & Competencies
+ Strong understanding of middle school curriculum and California Common Core Standards
+ Ability to provide differentiated instruction for diverse academic and behavioral needs
+ Excellent communication, organization, and time-management (especially for caseload deadlines)
+ Knowledge of MTSS, PBIS, UDL, and restorative practices
+ Ability to build positive relationships with students during a critical developmental stage
