About the Opportunity We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to support students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade within a semi self-contained classroom. This role is ideal for an educator with passion, structure, and a strong commitment to students with moderate to severe disabilities, including those with diverse cognitive, behavioral, developmental, and social-emotional needs. You’ll join a collaborative school community that values inclusion, individualized learning, and meaningful progress for each student. Key Responsibilities + Deliver specially designed instruction to K–2 students in a semi self-contained setting. + Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs, ensuring compliant documentation and measurable goals. + Support students with a range of needs: autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disabilities, emotional/behavioral disorders, developmental delays, speech-language impairments, and more. + Utilize differentiated instructional strategies and evidence-based interventions tailored to moderate-to-severe needs. + Collaborate closely with general education staff, paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families. + Foster a structured, nurturing environment that supports academic, behavioral, and social growth. + Implement behavioral supports and data-driven decision making. Required Education & Certifications Candidates must have the following: + State of Missouri Teaching Certification in Special Education + Acceptable areas include: + Mild/Moderate Disabilities + Cross-Categorical + Severe/Profound Disabilities + Special Education K–12 + Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education or related field + Ability to work full-time, on-site + Experience supporting students with moderate-to-severe disabilities strongly preferred \What We’re Looking For + A teacher passionate about helping young learners with diverse needs thrive + Strong classroom management with a calm, patient, trauma-informed approach + Skilled at differentiation, behavior supports, and structured teaching + Excellent communication and collaboration skills + Someone eager to complete the school year and make a meaningful impact Why This Role Matters You’ll play a critical part in helping early elementary students gain independence, communication skills, academic foundations, and social confidence.
