Job Summary Job SummaryThe special education teacher designs and implements individualized education programs for students with autism, ages TK–22, in a non-public school setting under the direction of the Director. This role includes assessment, supervision, and program planning; monitoring and evaluating student progress toward IEP goals and reduction of problem behavior; and identifying and developing instructional materials and protocols that promote skill acquisition, student success, and independence in the school environment. The teacher utilizes a variety of teaching methodologies grounded in Applied Behavior Analysis and positive programming and works collaboratively with the entire campus team to support an effective, rewarding experience for both students and staff. * Work directly with children with autism using identified curricula and assessment tools to meet each student’s individual needs. * Support, supervise, and implement lessons developed for the classroom, ensuring high-quality instruction for assigned students. * Use a variety of teaching methodologies grounded in positive programming to promote learning and skill acquisition. * Assist in identifying classroom staff strengths and opportunities for growth and provide guidance and feedback under the direction of the immediate supervisor. * Monitor students’ progress through direct observation, data review, and probes, and adjust instruction in collaboration with the classroom/school team. * Adapts lesson plans and curriculum to meet the individualized goals, needs, and IEP objectives of each student in the classroom. * Assist students with toileting, feeding, and other personal care needs, as required. * Monitor, prompt/teach, and reinforce health and safety behaviors (for example, handwashing, maintaining a clean workspace, walking in designated areas) across settings throughout the school day. * Plan and prepare special activities, including developing materials and lessons tailored to individual student n
View Job Description Requirements / QualificationsMinimum Education or Training Equivalent to: * 90 semester units from a regionally accredited four-year college/university, required * Bachelor’s degree, preferred * Moderate/Severe Teaching Credential, preferred Minimum Additional Related Experience: - Experience with varied teaching methodologies (e.g., Applied Behavior Analysis, TEACCH, PECS), preferred - In good standing with CCTC and other licensing/certification boards related to the position as an Special Education Teacher * Level II/2/Cleared Moderate/Severe Credential * Level II/2/Cleared Mild/Moderate Credential with AAA Specialization * Level II/2/Cleared Mild/Moderate Credential with embedded autism supports * Level I Moderate/Severe Credential – Valid * Level I Mild/Moderate Credential AAA Specialization - Valid * Level I Mild/Moderate Credential with embedded autism supports - Valid * Moderate/Severe Intern * Mild/Moderate Intern * Current enrollment in Special Education Program (in good standing) with course units/holds BA to obtain a Short-Term Staff Permit (STSP)
