The Teacher, under the direction of the Director of Education, designs, develops, documents and delivers appropriate programs of individualized instruction to students within the school setting. In addition to providing effective instruction, the teacher is involved in all related activities that establish and reinforce acceptable student behavior, progress, attitudes, and social skills where success is the major objective (including, but not limited to, coordinating and providing therapeutic special education services which models)

Develop and deliver effective, individualized instruction using a combination of direct, computer assisted, project-based, and small group techniques, assisting students to experience success and achieve skills/knowledge. Develop daily/weekly lesson plans that are in alignment with Common Core guidelines. Demonstrate, oversee, and employ effective classroom management practices to insure that the environment is both conducive to learning and safe, reporting special incidents and utilizing appropriate agency practices (in adherence to New Haven School policies and in compliance with state/district Education Codes). Implement, interface, participate and support New Haven treatment programs, attending meetings, interacting positively with youth and team. Document teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes. Prepare teaching materials and reports (e.g. grades, attendance, student portfolios, anecdotal records, etc.) for the purpose of implementing lesson plans and providing documentation of teacher and student progress.   Case Manage IEP's, including ITP's of all assigned students. Confer frequently, in conjunction with the IEP process, with professional staff and parents regarding each student's progress. Directs assistants and 1:1 aides for the purpose of providing an effective school program and addressing the needs of individual students. Assists with other duties as assigned and/or needed, including working with other teachers for the purpose of implementing curriculum.
