Special Education Teacher – Winfield, IL Location: Winfield, IL Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–3:30 PM Grade Levels: 6th–8th Grade Pay Rate: $58/hour Assignment: ASAP through end of school year Position Summary: The Special Education Teacher, reporting to the Special Education Program Administrator, delivers high-quality instruction and support to students in grades 6–8 with diverse learning needs. Responsibilities include designing and implementing individualized learning programs that address academic, behavioral, social, and emotional development. This role is in a highly supportive “dream classroom” environment with strong collaboration and resources. Key Responsibilities: + Deliver specialized instruction per IEPs and state guidelines. + Collaborate with general education staff, service providers, paraprofessionals, and administrators. + Participate in IEP development, progress monitoring, and student support planning. + Implement evidence-based instructional and behavioral strategies. + Maintain accurate documentation and ensure regulatory compliance. + Support daily routines, behavioral systems, and academic planning. + Communicate regularly with parents/guardians on student progress. + Foster a structured, inclusive, and positive classroom environment. Minimum Requirements: + Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (preferred). + Valid Illinois teaching certificate. + At least one year of teaching experience (preferred). + Preferred Illinois certifications: Standard Elementary, Standard Secondary, Standard Special Teaching. + LBS1 Endorsement preferred. + Adherence to professional standards. + Current CPR certification, if applicable. + TB questionnaire, PPD test, or chest X-ray, if applicable. + Current health certificate (as required). + Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements. + Must be at least 18 years old.
