Job Summary
The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, provides high-quality services to students in kindergarten through 12th grade. This educator is responsible for planning and implementing individualized programs, providing specialized instruction, offering tutorial support, and collaborating closely with general education staff. A strong commitment to teamwork, student growth, and inclusive practices is essential.
Key Responsibilities
+ Develop and implement IEPs in compliance with state and federal regulations
+ Provide specialized instruction to students with diverse needs
+ Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed
+ Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and administrators
+ Participate in team meetings, parent conferences, and professional development
+ Maintain accurate records and documentation
+ Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
+ Provide consultation and academic support within general education settings as appropriate
Minimum Requirements
+ Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (preferred)
+ Valid state teaching certification as required by district or state guidelines
+ Minimum one year of teaching experience (preferred)
+ State Teacher Certification
+ Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred
+ Compliance with all relevant professional standards
+ Current CPR certification (if applicable)
+ TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (if applicable)
+ Current health certificate per contract or state regulation
+ Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
