Special Education Instructional Assistant
Position: Special Education Instructional Assistant Location: Needham, MA Start Date: ASAP Duration: 3 months to start, possibility of extension Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM, 30 min unpaid lunch Pay Rate: $25/hour About the Role A school in Needham is seeking a Special Education Instructional Assistant to provide behavioral and educational support to elementary school school students. This position involves implementing individualized programs designed by behavioral specialists and supporting students with significant behavioral and developmental needs. Responsibilities + Apply principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to support students with disabilities. + Implement educational and behavioral programs and maintain accurate data collection and graphing. + Provide 1:1 or small group support in classroom, community, and home settings. + Maintain 100% visual supervision and adhere to bolting and lost child policies. + Assist with activities of daily living, including toileting and self-care, as needed. + Support students exhibiting challenging behaviors, including aggression, self-injury, and acting out behaviors. + Utilize reinforcement strategies to increase positive behaviors and reduce interfering behaviors. + Collaborate with BCBAs and special educators to follow structured treatment programs. + Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness under BCBA supervision. Qualifications + Experience in ABA required. + Ability to work with students exhibiting highly aggressive or self-injurious behaviors. + Strong data collection and behavior intervention skills. + Ability to remain calm and effective in challenging situations. + Comfortable providing hands-on support for daily living activities.
