No County Genesee Street Address NYS School for the Blind City Batavia State NY Zip Code 14020 Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s (NYSED) Office of Education Policy is seeking candidates for a Special Education Assistant (Substitute) position in the New York State School for the Blind. The incumbent of this position will be responsible for the classroom care of students in the school’s education program in the absence of regular staff. Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have a High School diploma or a High School Equivalency diploma AND the ability to perform moderate to heavy lifting of children. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Special consideration will be given to candidates with the following qualifications:• Experience working with severe to profoundly disabled and/or blind/sensory impaired children;• Demonstrated ability to work as a member of an educational team; and• Possession of, or willing to secure, an Article 19A school bus driver certification.It is essential that candidates clearly and concisely indicate exactly how they meet the above minimum qualifications in their resume. Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a temporary, on-call, hourly position. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit.
