Spanish-Speaking School Social Worker
Overview We’re seeking a dedicated Bilingual (Spanish-Speaking) School Social Worker to support kidos at the high-school level in an urban, high-poverty environment. This role provides social-emotional support, crisis intervention, and collaborative IEP/IHP input for students experiencing generational poverty, trauma, and learning disabilities. The ideal candidate is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, bilingual in Spanish, and confident working in high-need urban settings. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support students’ emotional, behavioral, academic, and environmental needs while maintaining compliance with all professional standards. Position Details + Location: Chicago, IL + Pay Rate: $50/hr + Hours: 40/hrs + Setting: High School + Caseload: LD students, trauma-impacted kidos, emotional/behavioral needs + Classroom Types: Blend of resource & self-contained + Start: ASAP + Contract: Through end of school year (EOY) + In-Person: Yes + Interview: Virtual Caseload & Environment Highlights + High-poverty, inner-city population + Many students facing generational trauma, poverty, and substance-use exposure + Majority are Learning Disability (LD) students needing targeted support + Instructional mix includes: + Resource: Co-taught, larger classes + Self-contained: Small groups or individualized instruction Responsibilities + Provide direct social-emotional services to high-school kidos + Participate in IEP/IHP development and implementation + Provide crisis intervention and ongoing counseling + Support students’ behavioral and emotional needs + Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams + Maintain documentation and compliance Requirements + Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Social Worker (SSW) endorsement + MSW or LCSW may be required + Bilingual – Spanish-speaking required + Strong experience supporting trauma-impacted and high-poverty communities + CPR (if applicable) + TB/PPD or chest X-ray (if applicable) + Current Health Certificate (if required) + Meets all federal/state/local regulations + Must be at least 18 If you’re passionate about helping kidos in high-need environments and making meaningful impact, I’d love to connect with you.
